Go West, Young Man!
When we think of “the American West,” most of us are actually thinking about a fairly short period in U.S. history
-- not much more than 60 years, in fact. But that time and place have had an extraordinary hold on our collective imagination for generations.
How can one conjure a better setting for a story than the American West? The land is big, beautiful and often brutal, and the characters, even if they’re ordinary, face hard choices. You can build a pretty good yarn -- as well as a drawing or painting -- from that.
I sell many of my Western paintings in a gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and I do pieces on private commission. If you are interested in a Western-style painting, please contact me!
